This sample collection kit is designed for the collection, transportation, and short time storage of clinical specimens.
The test kit should include each of the following components:
Discard if the swab is open or the specimen collection tube has leaked. Remove the swab from the outer packaging, check for any defects
Rub the soft tip of the swab across the five areas shown in the picture. This may make you gag but should not be painful. Try to avoid swabbing your tongue and teeth.
Place the soft tip of the swab gently JUST inside one of your nostrils and carefully rotate for 10 seconds. Please repeat this for your other nostril using the same swab. No force is needed, and you do not have to push far into your nostril.
Open the sample collection tube and place the used swab into the liquid, soft end first. Gently break the swab at the breakpoint midway down the shaft.
Replace the lid, and once secured, invert the collection tube 3 times to mix the liquid. Write your name, DOB and date sample taken onto the tube label.
Place one of the barcodes lengthways along the sample collection tube ensuring you do not cover your name, DOB and date sample taken.
Place the sample into the DGP Pathoseal 95k bag and seal. Place the second barcode on this bag.
Place the sealed DGP Pathoseal bag inside the cardboard box and close.
Place the closed box into Royal Mail pre-paid Tracked 24 return envelope. Place the 3rd Barcode on the outside of the special delivery bag.
Post the package back to the laboratory using one of the 30,000 Royal Mail Priority Post boxes. Your nearest post box can be found at :
